License Packaging

VDO’s o8Media License Packager defines and enforces DRM rules, stores content encryption keys along with the content metadata –required for license generation. Microsoft, Real and VDO’s proprietary DRM will be supported by VDO’s o8Media License Packager under the same secured convention for protecting the keys used in decryption and DRM.

VDO’s o8Media License Packager generates on-demand DRM compliant licenses containing associated DRM business rules as defined by the content provider. VDO’s patented license key generation encapsulates the DRM and encryption key in a uniquely generated lock designated for the authorized recipient before the content is distributed, thus ensuring that the downloaded content if illegally copied could not be viewed.

VDO’s o8Media License Packager supports several business models that restrict usage to a domain of devices authorized for playback by a user. Digital rights are granted to a user through the license which accompanies the download of the content. The DRM license includes both the mechanism for restricting the content playback and the purchased business model.

VDO’s o8Meida License Packager helps content providers and network carriers manage and delivered licenses to registered consumer devices such as mobile phones, PMPs, or PCs and can be transferred between the different devices.
