ViDeOnline has developed and engineered the o8 Media Network, a state-of-the-art, end-to-end content aggregation, distribution, and business management systems platform that allows for secure content distribution via wireless and broadband networks. VDO’s o8Media network allows users to access content over the Internet, over cellular networks or through broadband kiosks. This content is quickly and safely downloaded into mobile video storage devices, PCs, handsets or PDAs and gives content providers access to a broader, worldwide consumer market with complete copyright protection. In addition, ViDeOnline provides value-added services that manage all traffic and transactions on a real-time basis for review by its associated distribution partners.

Third party providers such as major Hollywood movie studios and global music distributors supply ViDeOnline with content that is ingested, edited, encrypted and repackaged for distribution.

Multi-layer Design

The architecture consists of multiple layers, whereby individual layers may be geographically dispersed and minimizes exposure to the Internet. The multi-layer design also results in a system that is extensible in that components may be added or removed without needing to bring the whole system down during the process.

The VDO System has five parts:

• The Content Ingestion Layer which takes care of the conversion, encryption, translation, and QA of the different content from the different Content Providers. To support the Service Layer, a Content Distribution Server is used to update the Service Layer with the latest contents based on the deployment location’s local preferences, needs, and content availability due to contract constraints.

• The Service Layer which is duplicated for each deployment and directly provide services to the subscribers through the Portal Layer.

• The Portal Layer which provides a “Store Front” to the subscribers depending on the devices they choose to interact with the service.

• The Devices Layer which are the devices the subscribers use to enjoy the content that the VDO System provides

• The Network Management Server which monitors the status of each subsystem.
